As severe weather approaches on Sunday evening, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Tarrant County and other North Texas counties. Tarrant, Dallas, Parker, Johnson, Hood, Collin, Denton, and Wise counties are all under a tornado watch until 2 a.m. National Weather Service forecasters had warned of damaging wind gusts, tornadoes, and large hail as early as Sunday morning.
The counties of Montague, Wise, Jack, Parker, Palo Pinto, and parts of Cooke have all been issued severe thunderstorm warnings until 9 p.m. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are expected, as are hailstones the size of quarters, according to the weather service. Wind gusts of up to 70 mph are possible in Wise, Parker, and parts of Jack and Palo Pinto counties, as well as quarter-sized hail.
Somervell, Hamilton, Erath, Bosque, Mills, and Hood counties have all received severe thunderstorm warnings until 9:30 p.m., as have parts of Comanche County.
