Complications from COVID-19 took its toll on Big Daddy Weave’s Jason “Jay” Weaver, who died today.

Mike, his brother and a fellow band member, shared the tragic news in a heartfelt Instagram post… “Unfortunately, I must break the news, but I’m overjoyed to celebrate his current success. It was only a few hours ago that my brother Jay went to be with the Lord for the final time.”

The Christian band’s bassist and lead singer, Jay, had a history of health issues. While in the hospital for an infection in his body in 2016, he had to have both of his feet amputated.

On behalf of his late brother, Mike thanked everyone for their prayers and support as he battled cancer… “You’ve seen him walk the uphill battle, and you and your friends have helped him so much.”

“Jesus was right there to catch him, even though COVID took his last breath,” he said.

As Jay’s family grieves, they’re relying on their faith to help them cope, he tells the New York Daily News. When Jay is in God’s presence, “the prayers of healing can turn into prayers of thanksgiving.”

His age was 42.
