Game Overview

As a computer scientist for the Institute of Major Time Errors, it’s your job to correct the mysterious time splits appearing in history and to find who (or what!) is causing them.

Will you help fix the time splits and save the future using your coding superpowers

In your TimeCraft mission, you will need to:

  • Travel back to exciting moments in world history
  • Code your Time Agent to fix three time splits
  • Use the clues to identify the Culprit (who or what is causing the time splits)

How to run your Hour of Code

Plan your hour:

  • Introduce yourself (2 min)
  • Introduce the theme of the lesson – found in Educator Guide (1 min)
  • Share your screen and show the walkthrough video (2 min) (make sure to share audio!)
  • Introduce lesson concepts – found in Educator Guide (5 min)
  • Go over tips and tricks on pages 9 and 10 of the facilitator slides  (3 min)
  • Share your screen, open the world and play through the first activity (Introduction + Big Band Jazz), have students follow along (10-15 min). Use the student-facing slides for additional support.
  • Have students complete 2 more activities on their own, invite them to ask questions if they have them (20 min)
  • Have the answer key on hand
  • Lesson conclusion (5 min)
  • Remaining time for questions and answers from students
