Known Traveler Number on Global Entry Card

A Known Traveler Number (KTN) is issued to all individuals approved to receive TSA PreCheck® expedited screening.  The KTN must be added in the KTN field when booking airline travel reservations to have the TSA PreCheck® indicator appear on your boarding pass.    

For members approved for the TSA PreCheck® Application Program, this number is 9 digits long, can be a combination of numbers and letters and typically begins with TT for those who enrolled through IDEMIA or TE for those who enrolled through Telos both which are official TSA PreCheck® enrollment providers.

For members approved for Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI, the KTN is the CBP PASS ID number. This nine-digit number usually begins with 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 50, 70, 80, 95, 98, or 99 and can be found on the back of your NEXUS, SENTRI, or Global Entry card in the upper-left corner or by logging on to the Trusted Traveler Programs website. Your trusted traveler card will not grant you access to TSA PreCheck® lanes, instead you must add your PASS ID number in the KTN field when making airline reservations to ensure the TSA PreCheck® indicator appears on your boarding pass.

Activating Your Global Entry Card

To activate your card, log into your Trusted Traveler Program (TPP) account.  After you log in, click on the “Activate Membership Card” button under the Program Membership(s) section.

Using Your Global Entry Card

We accept Global Entry cards for lawful U.S. entry at land and sea ports of entry.

Global Entry cards have radio frequency identification chips, which enable their use at Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) and NEXUS travel lanes when entering the United States at the land borders. You must follow all program rules for SENTRI when using this card at the Southern land border ports of entry.

You may use this card for expedited entry into the United States via the SENTRI and NEXUS lanes. The card is not valid for entry into Canada via the NEXUS lanes.

Only your passport or lawful permanent resident card are accepted at Global Entry kiosks. The Global Entry card cannot be used at Global Entry kiosks. NEXUS cards are accepted at Global Entry kiosks located on Canadian Preclearance Airports.

You only need to verify your identity once for your Login.gov account. After you verify your identity with Login.gov for one government application, you don’t need to do it again for other government applications that use Login.gov and require identity verification. You are not required to upload a picture of yourself or take a selfie for identity verification

Your Trusted Traveler membership date is not dependent on the passport expiration date. Membership will remain valid, even if the passport expires. To minimize unnecessary delays, please update your documents on the TTP website.
