Individual competence assessment PLUS (iKMPLUS) https://www.iqs.gv.at for 3rd grade of primary school starts in the spring of 2024. It surveys the students’ learning status in the subjects German and mathematics.
It shows where your child is at the moment and where he or she can improve further. The results provide teachers with additional information about their students.
This helps them provide individualised support for your child’s learning. The results also help teachers to reflect on and develop their teaching. The information helps schools to continuously develop teaching quality.
How does iKMPLUS work?
For iKMPLUS the children are provided with task books in German and mathematics to be used during one hour in class . iKMPLUS takes place at all elementary schools between April 20 and May 10, 2022. The exact dates are determined by the teachers and the school management. You will receive the dates directly from the responsible teacher or school management. At a few selected schools, iKMPLUS already takes place before the Easter vacations. This is done by specially trained persons and is a quality assurance measure.
Do I get the results of my child?
Every child who participates in iKMPLUS receives a so-called feedback code from the competent teacher. With this code, you can directly access your child’s results online. The code will be handed out to the students as soon as the results are available.
All data collected is handled with the utmost care and in compliance with all legal requirements. Only the competent teacher and the school management can link the results to the name of the respective child. Beyond that, no one can view your child’s results. Nor must results be passed on to other schools.
For more information on data protection go to https://www. iqs.gv.at/datenschutz-ikmplus-schueler.
What happens now with the results?
iKMPLUS results will be discussed with you in the KEL meeting (child-parent-teacher meeting) or at the parent-teacher conference. You and your child will learn more about the results and agree on further learning goals and concrete steps for your child together with the competent teacher. You will also receive an invitation to the interview by the competent teacher or school management.

The iKMÂ PLUS
The individual competence measurement PLUS (iKM PLUS ) is a set of instruments for educational diagnostics. It is used to record subject-related and assessment of interdisciplinary competencies of students. The development and implementation of iKM PLUS takes place as part of the pedagogy package and in coordination with its sub-projects. The rollout follows a phased schedule with a transition period in calendar year 2021.
In the iKM PLUS, important functions of the Informal Competence Measurement (IKM) and the Educational Standard Reviews (BIST-Ü) are brought together, further developed and their impact strengthened. On the one hand, the results of iKM PLUS should have a direct educational impact on every student and teacher in the same school year . On the other hand, they provide reliable data and indicators for evidence-based school and quality development.
iKM PLUS provides a wide range of mandatory and voluntary surveys . The iKM PLUS basic modules take place annually and are mandatory at the 3rd and 4th grades in German (reading) and mathematics as well as at the 7th and 8th grades in German (reading), mathematics and English (receptive skills) within a defined test time window instead of. The implementation of the voluntary modules takes place more flexibly at the discretion of the teachers. In addition to the competence surveys, supporting materials and training courses are developed as part of iKM PLUS .
Usage and target levels of iKMÂ PLUS
- Students & Parents/Guardians : Receive objective feedback on their learning status in the same school year; reflect on the results and agree on possible support measures together with the responsible teacher.
- Teachers: Receive external, objective information on the learning status of individual students and the performance level of the class as a whole as a further basis for lesson and support planning shortly after the iKM PLUS has been carried out.
