New Brunswick may be suffering from an unidentified neurological disorder, or it may not.
There may be more to it than what’s been revealed by the government.
A weekend media storey has re-ignited these questions, which have been swirling since the province’s Health Minister Dorothy Shephard cast doubt on some previously linked cases to an ongoing investigation.
An apparent whistleblower in New Brunswick’s French health care network Vitalité was cited in a storey by British journalist Leyland Cecco on The Guardian Sunday.
Cases of the neurological disorder are spreading, according to an unnamed source.
Researchers are calling the condition “Neurological Syndrome of Unknown Etiology” in place of an official name (NSUE).
In April 2021, a memo sent to Canadian health practitioners was leaked, revealing the disturbing cluster of bizarre cases.
After experiencing unexplained pain and discomfort, the disease’s symptoms progress to include twitching, jerking, and behavioural changes.
There are currently 48 confirmed victims, but some experts believe the true number could be as high as 150, with many of them still undiagnosed.
