Discord on Xbox Not Working : Why isn’t my Discord working on my Xbox?
It seems to be an ongoing issue with Discord that is affecting many Xbox players. Upon checking on Xbox Status | Xbox Support, there is problem with Discord and our development team is working hard to resolve it as soon as possible.
- Check the Xbox status for any relevant issues. Restart the game, and if that doesn’t resolve the issue power cycle your console.
- Test your network connection, and then try using a different Xbox profile to launch and play the game
If you’re stuck on the connecting screen, there’s a few things you should try to help!
- Double check to make sure your date/time are set automatically
- Scan your computer using Malwarebytes
- Clear threats, restart PC, relaunch Discord
- Ensure your firewall settings are allowing Discord to connect
- Go to your proxy settings, and ensure that no proxies are enabled
- Windows: Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Lan Settings – Uncheck “Use a Proxy”
- Mac: System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> Proxies – Make sure you have no Proxies enabled
If you’re still having trouble connecting, press Ctrl+Shift+I (⌥+⌘+I on Mac) and check your console for errors.
How to use Discord with Xbox
Things to keep in mind:
- You can’t mix Discord friends with Xbox friends. A Discord voice channel will contain Discord friends, while Xbox party chat will contain Xbox friends.
- Discord voice channel audio can’t be broadcast through Twitch streaming.
- Discord is not available in all countries/regions.
Link your Xbox and Discord accounts
To add Discord to your Xbox, you’ll first have to link your Xbox and Discord accounts in one of the following ways.
Note Linking is only required the first time, unless you unlink your Discord and Xbox accounts. If you previously linked your Xbox and Discord accounts before August 2022, you may have to relink your accounts to access this feature.
Discord mobile app
- Select your avatar > Connections.
- Select Add and under Add new connection, select Xbox.
- Select Continue and then follow the instructions to sign in to your Microsoft account.
- Select Authorise to connect your Xbox and Discord accounts. When finished, your accounts will be linked.
Discord desktop or browser app on Windows or Mac
- Select User Settings next to your account name.
- In User Settings, select Connections.
- Select the Xbox icon and follow the prompts.
- On the “Let this app access your info?” screen, select Yes.
Xbox mobile app
- Select your gamerpic.
- Select the gear icon.
- Select Discord.
- Select Continue and on the next screen, sign in to your Discord account.
- On the next screen, sign in to your Microsoft account.
Xbox app for Windows
- Press the Start button and then choose Xbox from the list.
- View profile icon and select Settings.
- Select Link next to Discord and then follow the prompts.
Xbox console
To connect to Discord through your Xbox console:
- Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
- Go to Profile & system > Settings > Account > Linked social accounts.
- Under the Discord tile, select Link.
- Follow the instructions to link your Discord account.
How to join on your console
To join a Discord voice channel on your Xbox console:
- Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the Guide.
- Go to Parties & chats and select Discord.
- Select a Discord server from the list and press the A button .
- Select a Discord voice channel from the Voice channels list and press the A buttonto join.
