Dr Oz Running for Senate : Dr Oz to run for Pennsylvania Senate
According to a campaign statement released Tuesday, Dr. Mehmet Oz, a daytime television programme presenter and cardiothoracic surgeon, is running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania “to help cure our country’s ill.”
COVID-19 “has taught us that our system is broken,” he said, citing the pandemic as his motive for running.
Speaking in a statement, Oz said that “We have wasted enough lives, too many jobs, and too many possibilities because Washington got it wrong.” We lost our independence, but they didn’t make us safer; they sought to eliminate our spirit and dignity.”
It’s time for a conservative who would put the United States first, rekindle our spiritual flame, and fearlessly battle for freedom, he stated.
Before the end of July, Sean Parnell, a candidate widely expected to win and sponsored by former President Donald Trump, announced his withdrawal from the race due to allegations that he assaulted his family, including his wife and their three children.
Despite Trump’s lack of support for Oz’s Senate candidacy, the two have previously worked together. In 2018, President Trump named Oz to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition. In 2020, Oz was re-elected to the council for a second term.
For his promotion of alternative medicine, Dr. Oz has been the target of criticism over the years. As a possible treatment for the COVID-19 pandemic, in numerous Fox News broadcasts he advocated the use of hydroxychloroquine, a recommendation eventually rejected by the Food and Drug Administration.
