Flying Pokemon Weakness : Flying-Type Pokémon
Flying Pokemon Weakness : Flying-Type Pokémon
Pokemon Types are the core of combat in Pokemon Go much as in the rest of the series – and to succeed, you’ll need to grasp Pokemon type strengths, weaknesses and effectiveness.
As hardcore Pokemon fans will already know quite well, each Pokemon has one or two types, and types determine much about how that Pokemon battles. For the Pokemon Trainer, type is important because certain types are strong against others, meaning you can deal or take additional damage, or on the other hand lessen the amount of damage received.

Flying-type Pokémon are not considered grounded for effects that affect grounded Pokémon (e.g. entry hazards). If they lose their ungrounded status by methods like holding Iron Ball or being under the effect of moves Ingrain (Generation IV onward), Gravity, Smack Down or Thousand Arrows they also lose their immunity to Ground type moves. Holding Ring Target makes them lose their type immunity to Ground type moves, but keeps ungrounded status for other effects.
Defense
In addition to being immune to Ground-type attacks and Arena Trap, Flying-type Pokémon are unaffected by Rototiller and all entry hazards (except Stealth Rock). Flying-type Pokémon also cannot absorb Toxic Spikes simply by switching in and do not receive the benefits from terrains (though they can still use Seeds). These immunities, as well as the immunity to Arena Trap, are removed when a Flying-type Pokémon is grounded by Ingrain, Gravity, Smack Down, Thousand Arrows, or Iron Ball. Sky Drop can pick up a Flying-type target and make it unable to move. On the next turn, Sky Drop will fail and free the target, even if the target is grounded.
When a Flying-type uses Roost, it temporarily loses its Flying type for a turn. If a pure Flying-type Pokémon uses Roost, then it will become a ??? type in Generation IV and a Normal type in Generation V onward.
Flying-type Pokémon, on average, have the highest Speed of all Pokémon and of fully-evolved Pokémon.
Offense
Flying-type attacks are very powerful combined with some other attacking types, most notably Ground. Ground is strong against every type that resists Flying, and vice versa, so this combination is resisted only by Flying-type Pokémon whose other type resists Flying (such as an Electric Flying Pokémon).
The effectiveness of the move Flying Press is calculated by multiplying the effectiveness of its move type (usually Fighting) and the Flying type.
Contest properties
In Contests, Flying-type moves are typically Cool moves.
