Spoilers

Hari Seldon and the colonists begin their trek to Terminus while the Galactic Empire is still reeling from the events on Trantor.

An estimated 100 million of the Emperor’s people have died, and he wants someone to blame. A series of missions have been launched in an effort discover and interrogate the rebellious delegates, but thus far the efforts have been fruitless. Are we witnessing the beginning of the Empire’s demise, as Seldon predicted, or is this a result of his prophecy being widely shared?

With no notable new characters joining the already big group, this episode doesn’t offer much in the way of fresh information. The ship takes a long time to travel; it will be more than four years before it reaches its destination (literally). There’s more time for Gaal and Raych’s budding romance, and the tension between Raych and Hari comes to a head when Raych stabs him at the close of the episode, and Gaal is thrown into space in a life pod.

While this episode’s pacing is slower than the debut, that’s only because the premiere included so much information. As the Emperor’s several personalities come to light, we get a chance to catch our breath. After publicly executing suspected terrorist sympathisers, Brother Day (Lee Pace) is exceptionally brutal. This is nothing more than a rebellious display of authority that he already realises is ebbing away from him. But it’s Hari’s savage assassination that’ll really send you into shock. He could not have passed away already, right?
