With defending MVP Patrick Mahomes having thrown eight interceptions in as many games, Kansas City hasn’t had its signature, smooth offensive production halfway into 2023.
Sunday might be a huge step in the right direction for the NFL’s efforts to expand its international fan base. On that date, one of 2023’s most highly awaited matches will be played in Germany.
You could say it’s a dress rehearsal for the AFC title game between the Chiefs and the Dolphins, who have been on a roll since winning the Super Bowl.
With defending MVP Patrick Mahomes having thrown eight interceptions in as many games, Kansas City hasn’t had its signature, smooth offensive production halfway into 2023. However, Mahomes is still Mahomes, and the Chiefs’ defence has been a major factor in the team’s 6-2 start and first-place standing in the AFC West. Miami, meanwhile, enters Week 9 with the league’s best offence, averaging roughly 34 points per game with both Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill among early possibilities to earn this year’s MVP award.

Tyreek Hill, who has been nearly unstoppable while leading the NFL in receiving, has promised to perform well against his previous team, the Kansas City Chiefs. While L’Jarius Sneed and Trent McDuffie have been physical contributors to the Chiefs’ pass “D,” which ranks second in the league, they lack the pace necessary to stay up with Hill downfield. No one does. Safety It’s possible that Justin Reid will spend much of the day paired up with the wideout.
When it comes to stopping the run, the Chiefs are 19th in the league. Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane are the Dolphins’ top two backs, and they’re both banged up despite Mostert’s claims that he’s fine to play. Despite just having eight touches so far this season, Jeff Wilson could be in line for a larger role alongside Salvon Ahmed. Or maybe Mike McDaniel plans to use the receivers more in the running game.
One could argue that the Dolphins couldn’t be in a better position to finally show their worth. The Chiefs are sputtering on offence, it’s a neutral venue, and Hill will be raring to go against his former side. The Dolphins haven’t beaten a club with a winning record yet this season, and there are still some major injuries to deal with on their offensive line (Terron Armstead and Robert Hunt). Tua, Tyreek, and Jaylen Waddle are all known to make headline-grabbing plays. The Chiefs should have the upper hand in the trenches, where this game inevitably comes down to the wire.
