According to InciWeb, the blaze is raging in dense chaparral while being pushed by strong winds and rapidly expanding.

30 to 35 mph winds, with gusts as high as 70 mph, have been recorded in the surrounding area.

Incident authorities stated the squally weather made it dangerous to fly for any of the aircraft deployed to the fire.
According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, the blazes forced the closure of a section of Highway 101. The wildfire has attracted a large number of firemen; there are already 600 on the scene.

The county fire public information officer, Mike Eliason, provided an update and said that the “gusty winds remained overnight. The blaze is still posing a threat to 100-120 buildings. “I’m hoping the winds will be less strong today so we can use air support to put out the fire.”

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, California is currently dealing with a terrible fire season that includes 10 active significant flames, including the Alisal Fire.

With over a million acres burned since it started on July 13, the largest is the huge Dixie Fire. That blaze has now been knocked down to just 4% of its original size.

Cal Fire reports that 7,883 fires have burned roughly 2.5 million acres in California so far this year.
