To access TUKLAS visit the Main Library Website at mainlib.upd.edu.ph. Click the ‘TUKLAS’’ button to redirect you to the TUKLAS page tuklas.up.edu.ph. You may also go directly to the TUKLAS page using this URL.
Navigating through Tuklas is relatively simple. You can either do a basic or advanced search, depending on what you want to see. However, you must bear in mind that Tuklas is not a journal or an eBook database. Instead, it serves as a locator and provides the location of the material and its status.
WHAT IS TUKLAS?
With the Discovery Service development, it is now possible to cross-search through other local databases in a single platform. Users may access the union catalog, the Index to Philippine Newspapers, and the Index to Philippine Periodicals.
HOW TO USE TUKLAS?
For locating books, thesis, and journals, click the search box, type in the keyword, and click search.
Users may opt to use Advanced Search. This allows users to combine search terms.
Users may also search by title, author, accession number, call number, ISBN/ISSN, or by subject.
At the mid-section of the page, you will see the search results related to your keyword/s.
On the left side, it shows the NARROW SEARCH options.

Using this feature can narrow down your search by:
- Source database, such as Union Catalog (iLib), Index to Philippine Periodicals (IPP), and or Index to Philippines Newspaper (IPN).
- Unit Library users can check the location of the availability of materials by choosing the specific College/Unit Library.
- Year of Publication.
- Classification of information.
- Subject.
- Author.
- Format, such as, book, article, thesis, electronic resource, manual, etc.
- And by Language.
Click the title you want to access.
You will see the bibliographic details of the book such as, the Call number, Title, Author, Publisher, date of Publication, and other details.
If you want to borrow the material, always take-note of the bibliographic details of the book for easy retrieval. You are also encouraged to check the Circulation type, if it’s for Regular Circulation, Reserve Circulation, for Room-Use-Only or NON-Circulation.
To access the e-books in Tuklas, simply click the holdings and click the link. And follow the OpenAthens instructions.
You may also check the AVAILABILITY or the status of the material, if it’s ON LOAN, ON SHELF or IN PROCESS as indicated in the description below.
To access the library materials during the community quarantine, email the College/Unit Library where the material is located.
We highly encourage the users to ask assistance first to their respective home unit before requesting it from the other Unit Libraries.
HOW TO ADD TO BOOKBAG?
To add your books to the bookbag, choose the title of the book and click the “Add to Bookbag” button on the upper portion of the title. Once the user adds the collection to the bookbag, click the “ item” at the upper left corner of the page. Users have the following options:
- Email the collection to the concerned College/Unit Library for inquiry and or for request.
- Or Print, for future book reference.
HOW TO INPUT CITATIONS?
Click the title you wish to cite then click the “Cite this” on the upper portion of the Title and copy your preferred citation format.
