If you’re seeing the message: “Please activate the game’s product code at origin.com” it means that the game you’re trying to play requires activation through EA (formerly Origin) — using a product key or code.
This typically happens when:
-
You bought a physical game or got a key from a 3rd-party site
-
You’re launching an EA game for the first time via Steam/Epic/etc.
-
The EA App can’t verify ownership until you redeem the code
✅ How to Activate a Game on EA (formerly Origin)
Follow these steps to redeem your product key and activate the game:
▶️ On a PC using the EA App
-
Download & install the EA App
Sign in to your EA Account (or create one).
-
Click your profile picture > “Redeem Code”
OR
Use the top-left menu:≡ > Redeem Product Code -
Enter your product key (usually 16–20 characters) and click Next.
-
If valid, the game will be added to your EA Library and ready to install/play.

📝 Notes
-
EA product codes often look like this:
ABCD-1234-EFGH-5678 -
If you bought the game via Steam, you don’t need a separate code. Just:
-
Launch the game from Steam
-
Sign into EA App when prompted (linking accounts is required)
-
-
If the code is already used, and you’re the original buyer, contact EA Support with proof of purchase.
🚫 Don’t Have a Code?
If you’re being told to activate a product code but you bought the game digitally (e.g. via Steam or Epic), then:
-
It may just need you to sign in and link your EA Account.
-
You do not need to enter a separate code — skip that and just launch the game after signing in to EA App.
